What is EC X?
What is EC X?
EC-X is an implementation of Erasure Coding and therefore works by creating a mathematical function around a data set such that if a member of the data set is lost, the lost data can be recovered easily from the rest of the members of the set.
What is Nutanix EC X?
Nutanix Erasure Coding (EC-X) is one of the storage reduction technologies available in Nutanix Acropolis Operating System (AOS) which is basically the Nutanix cluster. It basically takes one or two data copies and create a parity that can be used to recreate the data if required.
What is replacing the EC 130?
The USAF’s EC-130H Compass Call is a modified version of the C-130 Hercules airframe. This fleet will be replaced with the EC-37B Compass Call aircraft. SABER technology, which complies with standards of US Department of Defense (DoD), will deliver the backbone of the EC-37B aircraft’s operating system.
What is erasure coding in storage?
Erasure coding (EC) is a method of data protection in which data is broken into fragments, expanded and encoded with redundant data pieces and stored across a set of different locations or storage media.
What is erasure coding in nutanix?
What is Erasure Coding? Erasure coding increases the usable capacity on a cluster. Instead of replicating data, erasure coding uses a parity information to rebuild data in the event of a disk failure. The capacity savings of erasure coding is in addition to deduplication and compression savings.
What is data locality nutanix?
Nutanix data locality puts ZERO restrictions on where VMs can move within a cluster. VM’s can migrate to a host even if it has no local data. As mentioned earlier, Nutanix always writes new I/O to the local node which means subsequent reads (which are common for new data) are serviced locally.
Are c5a still flying?
The C5M strategic transport aircraft is a modernized version of the C5 Galaxy. Lockheed Martin manufactured the aircraft to extend the capability of the C-5 fleet to remain in service at least until 2040. The US Air Force operates the Lockheed C-5 since 1969.
Why is it called erasure coding?
It works by storing redundant pieces of information in a way that allows recovery from complete storage device failures. This technique is called erasure coding.
How does erasure coding work?
Erasure coding works by splitting a unit of data, such as a file or object, into multiple fragments (data blocks) and then creating additional fragments (parity blocks) that can be used for data recovery. If such an event occurs, the parity fragments can be used to rebuild the data unit without experiencing data loss.

What does ECX stand for in e commerce?
ECX academy stands for e-commerce exchange academy. E-commerce simply is the buying & selling of goods or services using the internet & the transfer of money & data to execute those transactions. The ECX academy will teach our members how to run a successful e-commerce store using the dropshipping model.
How does EC-X affect the write performance?
As EC-X is a post process task and EC-X waits until data is “Write Cold” before performing EC-X on the data, in general it will not impact the Write performance. The exception to this is in the event data is Write Cold for a period of time, then the data is overwritten, this “overwrite” will incur a higher penalty than a typical RF2/RF3 write.
What does EC-X mean for white hot data?
The data might be white hot from a read I/O perspective, but as long as its not being overwritten the extent group (4MB) will be a candidate for EC-X. This means for data which is Write Cold, the effective capacity of the SSD tier will be increased due to requiring less space thanks to EC-X.
