Minky fabric is also known as cuddle fleece, which is why it is often used for baby blankets and loveys, slippers, mittens, and even car seat liners. You can choose this fabric with a short or long pile depending on the warmth and variation you would like in your Minky fabric.

Can cuddle fabric be ironed?
The nap of a fabric is the direction of its pattern, but in Minky’s case it’s the direction of the texture. If you iron Minky it can ruin the nap, so we don’t recommend ironing. Another fun fact is Minky doesn’t stretch lengthwise, it stretches on the crosswise grain and bias.

Cuddle has a tendency to curl, and the wider seam allowance helps stabilize it. It will also help decrease stretching. Cuddle doesn’t fray so seam finishing isn’t necessary, however, when mixing Cuddle with another fabric (see below), if the resulting seam allowance is too bulky, grade the seam by trimming away some of the Cuddle.
