Are Beaver Dam tip-ups worth it?

Are Beaver Dam tip-ups worth it?

Beaver Dams are very nice tip-ups, the the plastic framed HT Polar Tip ups (not the round thermal ones) work very well, are easy to service, and are priced reasonably. I got some very cheap carpet samples, and cut a slit in them for the shaft to fit through. They will keep the holes very ice free.

How do you fish for tip ups?

10 steps to fish with a tip-up the right way

  1. Find the best spots and spread out.
  2. Drill holes in the ice.
  3. Spool up with good line.
  4. Check the depth.
  5. Select your tip-up bait.
  6. Adjust your trigger sensitivity.
  7. Keep an eye on the flags.
  8. Move quick when a flag goes up.

How do you set up walleye tip ups?

Start on the deep edge with jigging lures and set your second line via tip-up in the mid-depth range. You’ll catch fish with your active rod, but watch those tip-ups close. As soon as those flags flare, reel in, but don’t reset them, land your fish and let that tip-up lay on the ice.

How much line should you put on a tip up?

A preference for me would be to place about 50-75 yards of Dacron line on each spool of my tip-ups. Considering that this is 150-225 feet of line, it will suffice for most fishing conditions apart from perhaps fishing for lake trout and water depths of 60-80 feet.
