What is antifreeze G12?
What is antifreeze G12?
G12 antifreeze is red or pink. It no longer contains silicates; it is based on carboxylate compounds and ethylene glycol. The average service life of such a coolant is 4-5 years. Antifreeze G12 is used in high-speed engines with an operating temperature of 90-110 degrees.
What antifreeze is compatible with G12?
The G13 has the same exceptional cooling and antifreeze performance as G12++, but it is manufactured using glycerin. Glycerin is much less harmful to the environment than glycol. The G13 is also excellent for cooling and protection against corrosion and chalk deposits.
Can you mix G12 with regular antifreeze?
I would not use anything else. Non g12 coolant has the potential to corrode the cylinder head and gum up when mixed with other types of coolants. When mixed it becomes brown and coats everything with a sludge, like algae in a pond. Your expansion tank will show signs of this sludge.
What Colour is G12 ++ coolant?
red
Index number as standard
VW | BASF | Colour |
---|---|---|
G12++ | G40 | red/violet |
G13 | purple | |
G05 | yellow | |
G33 | blue- green |
Does G13 coolant replaced G12?
G13 coolant is introduced on all engines. G11, green-blue; G12, red; G12+ and G12++, purple; G13 (not pictured), purple. Coolants G11, G12, G12+ and G12++ have been replaced by an improved version. G13 coolant is introduced on all engines.
Is G12 ++ compatible with G13?
G12 and G13 are not compatible.
Can I mix G12 and G12 ++?
G12++ can be mixed with G11,G12,g12+.
Can a G12 coolant be mixed with a G13 coolant?
The table identifies which coolant can be added to the factory coolant. Note: G12+, G12++ and G13 coolants are lifetime coolants when used exclusively in the coolant system (not mixed with other coolants).
What’s the difference between G12 and phosphate free antifreeze?
G-12 is phosphate free, While Claims are made to be Silicate free in the antifreeze industry anything under 240 ppm of Silicate is considered silicate free so many antifreeze claim to be silicate free while in fact it is in fact part of the formulation.
What makes G13 the best antifreeze for radiators?
G13 contains some silicate additives for that additional healing aluminium protection. This is contrary to some earlier specifications that use OAT-technology (Organic Acid Technology). Silicate additives make G13 ideal for long-term use in all modern radiators, especially those constructed from aluminium, cast iron and magnesium alloys.
What happens when you mix G12 coolant with oat?
When Ford made the change, it said it had modified the cooling systems of its cars where necessary to minimize cavitation, and it began a phase-out of the 4.6-L and 5.4-L V8s, which were considered unsuitable for use with an OAT.” Many companies like VW and Audi recommend using G12/G13 coolants on their system.
