What does a TheraBite do?

The TheraBite jaw motion rehab system is a hand operated device from ATOS Medical that provides a simple option for jaw hypomobility and dysfunction. The Therabite system successfully alleviates trismus from cancer, radiation fibrosis, trauma, TMJD, facial burns, and stroke.

How do you use TheraBite?

To use the TheraBite device with the hand aid, hold the TheraBite with one hand at the back by the knob. Then pull the hand aid forward to squeeze the device and press the mouthpieces open….

  1. Daily or during spasm, one session of 10 “bites”.
  2. Insert and open to 15mm.
  3. Bite down and hold for 10 seconds, rest 30 secs.

How do you stop Trismus?

Are there any contraindications to the Therabite system?

Contraindications: Mandible or Maxilla bone fracture (upper and lower jaw); and other bone weaknesses, bone infections, osteomyelitis, and osteocradionecrosis of the jaw. The TheraBite system is clinically proven as more effective than self-exercises and tongue depressors.
